Gameplay Mechanics

IPRPS uses a "Roll-Under" d20 system combined with realistic derived stats. Success is determined by rolling equal to or lower than your skill.

Success Rolls

To succeed, roll a d20. The result must be ≤ Effective Skill. Modifiers apply to the Effective Skill, not the die roll.

Unified Size Modifiers

Size impacts combat physics directly.

  • Small (Size -1): -2 Damage, 1yd Reach. Harder to hit.
  • Large (Size +1): +2 Damage, 2yd Reach. Resistant to knockback.
  • Weapon Scaling: Using mismatching weapons incurs penalties.

Shock Penalties

Damage taken creates a "Shock" penalty to DEX/INT skills on the next turn only. Max penalty is -4.

Points allow purchase of Attributes, Advantages, and Skills.

Every species in the Infinite Plane possesses unique physiological or psychological quirks that define their roleplay and mechanics.

IPSM-AI Logic

The "Pattern Lock"

The dungeon is alive. If your party repeats the same tactic (e.g., casting Fireball 3 times in 5 rounds), the AI triggers a Pattern Lock.

"Enemies gain Advantage on saves against that specific tactic, and traps realign to punish it."

The Five Signals Definitions

  • 🔊 Noise Spike (NS): Explosions, shouting.
  • Magic Sig (MS): Wards, sustained spells.
  • 🩸 Blood Scent (BS): Wounds, necromancy.
  • 💎 Loot Disturb (LD): Traps, chest opening.
  • Time Drift (TD): Teleportation, chronomancy.

(NS + MS + BS + LD + TD) / 3

Negative HP Rules

Death is not immediate at 0 HP. Survival checks occur at -1×HP. Automatic death only occurs at -5×HP.
